Karen van de Graaf

is a Scottish painter and sculptor whose inspiration comes from people and nature. Art has always excited Karen. Raised in both the USA and Scotland, Karen holds a degree from the University of Dundee and initially pursued a career in the Market Research industry. However, after a pause to look after her young family, she decided to put her energy into her lifelong ambition: creating art.

Over the last few years, Karen has increasingly focused on painting and drawing with a specific interest in portraits. Partly to increase her skill and partly for the sheer fun of it she set herself up as the resident portrait artist at the Kelpies selling portraits to visitors. From 2017 – 2019 she enjoyed her stints on the Royal Mile at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh doing the very same thing.

As a result Karen’s portraits sit in home around the wold. Her artworks have sold in New York, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Falkirk. She hopes you enjoy the work on display.

Recently she has been doing a few commissions in the form of dog portraits, which have been very well received.
