Having performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 5 years, as a portrait artist, drawing faces on the Royal Mile, really fast (in only 10 minutes!). In 2025, I was really keen to produce a body of work which told the story of how it was to be a part of the Fringe. How was my viewpoint from this “internal prespective”? How was it different from that of people veiwing the event from the “auidence” stand point. Turns out even when I was a part of the “audience” watching other performers, I stopped seeing the crowds after a certain point. In these small works, I often purely see other performers doing what they do best, being entertaining/ doing their show! My hope is that these works bring a different vantage point of “The Fringe”.
